Virginia Spaceport Authority Represents the Eastern Shore of Virginia at Commercial Space Week 2023 in Orlando, Florida

Orlando, Florida February 21, 2023 – Commercial Space Week is taking place in Orlando, Florida from February 20th-24th and consists of three conference programs: The Space Mobility Conference, The Global Spaceport Alliance, and SpaceCom.

Virginia Space Authority CEO and Executive Director Ted Mercer and COO Sean Mulligan are representing the Virginia Spaceport Authority at three conferences dedicated to the advancement and development of space related capabilities.

On Monday, February 20th, CEO and Executive Director Ted Mercer showcased the Virginia Spaceport Authority’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport at the Global Spaceport Alliance Summit. The Alliance provides the opportunity for spaceport operators and executives to network, plan, and share data necessary for the successful operation of spaceports.

On Tuesday, February 21st, CEO Ted Mercer participated in a panel hosted by the Space Mobility Conference dedicated to discussing the importance of availability, readiness, and the standardization of spaceports.

Other panelists include Janet Pero, Director of the John F. Kennedy Space Center, NASA; Col. Mark Shoemaker, Vice Commander, Space Launch Delta 45; and Pam Underwood, Director of the FAA Office of Spaceports.

Virginia Spaceport Authority staff will represent the company at events hosted through Thursday with the hope of bringing special attention to the capabilities of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport on Wallops Island and the people who make it all possible.
