Position Summary

We are currently seeking qualified rising graduates pursuing a higher education degree program to participate in our 11-week paid internship program.  

Under direct supervision, this position is primarily responsible for compiling records concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, and equipment.

Duties

  • Supports the logistics aspect of the MARS Inventory Control System, including: stocking, database entry, parts and material tracking, and preparing transmittals with appropriate certifications and approvals
  • Receives delivered materials, equipment, and supplies, confirms that all parts match the material stock request descriptions and expected quantity, document arrival condition and verify all necessary paperwork is received
  • Supports receipt inspection of materials, supplies, spares, and repair parts to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Organizes and manages inventory certificate of conformance for all pad components
  • Evaluates clean part inventory levels and sends to parts to be cleaned when required
  • Oversees external repair order process including distributing parts requiring repair/work or cleaning, as well as inspecting and documenting returned units
  • Conducts semiannual inventory audit to ensure all items in stock, accounted for and properly stored
  • Assesses inventory levels and coordinates replenishment with Materials Manager
  • Researches and responds to inquiries regarding inventory levels and part availability
  • Distributes materials, equipment, and supplies to field per material stock request
  • Investigates inventory discrepancies and takes corrective measures to resolve concerns
  • Other duties as assigned
Occasionally
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment and controls using computer-assisted drafting programs. Creates and revises production drawings (detail and assembly drawings)
  • Drafts final sketch of proposed drawings, verifying part dimensions and overall structural materials required
  • Forklift operation

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport Offices and facilities on Virginia’s Eastern Shore
  • Must be able to maintain secured access to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport and supporting facilities
  • Must be able to understand and use Microsoft office in whole
